Dr Stephen Pearson
Steve was born in Adelaide and grew up both there and Bouganville (Solomon Islands) where his father was an Engineer. He completed his secondary schooling as a boarder at Brisbane Boys’ College, and then attended Adelaide University, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
He initially worked in private practice and at the Special care Unit at Adelaide University. During this time Steve took 6 months leave to treat Tibetan refugees in the Himalayas. He then headed to the UK where he took posts as a Senior House Officer working in Maxillo-Facial Surgery in the Hospital system. He obtained a Diploma in Conscious Sedation at Guys University, and moved to become the chief clinician in a private clinic treating patients under general anaesthesia and sedation.
Steve met his wife Becky, a Theatre Nurse while in the UK and they have 2 daughters who are now at high school. In 2002 Steve and his Family moved to Australia eventually settling in Mackay. Steve has been at Plaza Dental since 2004. In 2017 he was invited to join the teaching staff at James Cook University School of Dentistry in Cairns. There he tutors undergraduate students in the field of Oral Surgery.
Steve has a particular interest in Oral Surgery, especially the placement of Dental Implants and the removal of wisdom teeth.
Outside of work Steve is interested in anything aquatic and is in the final stages of getting his Pilot’s Licence.
