Dr Dean Licenblat
Dr Dean Licenblat is one of Australia’s most respected clinicians and educators in the field of dental implantology, with a practice dedicated to advanced implant reconstruction, bone grafting and comprehensive surgical rehabilitation.
After graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dentistry, Dr Licenblat pursued extensive postgraduate education, including a Master of Science in Oral Implantology from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany—becoming one of the first Australian dentists to hold this formal qualification. He now maintains a teaching appointment with Goethe University, where he mentors and tutors graduate students from Australia and New Zealand in advanced implant surgery and grafting procedures.
While Dr Licenblat enjoys all facets of dentistry, his passion lies in oral surgery, wisdom teeth removal, dental implantology and full-arch implant rehabilitation. He has undertaken countless hours of continuing education around the world, focusing on advanced implantology, bone and soft tissue augmentation, and modern reconstructive techniques. This commitment to lifelong learning allows him to deliver comprehensive, predictable and evidence-based treatment solutions for even the most complex cases.
Dr Licenblat has achieved numerous distinctions throughout his career. He was the first Australian to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI), one of the highest credentials in implant dentistry internationally, and remains the first and only Australian to have been appointed as an examiner for the ABOI Board. He is also a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and has been recognised among a select group of clinicians awarded the ICOI Ambassador’s Circle. His practice, Sydney Dental Aesthetics & Implants, is one of only a few Australian practices recognised as a Leading Implant Centre of the World.
Widely recognised as a pioneer in implant dentistry, Dr Licenblat is particularly known for his expertise in bone grafting, advanced full-arch rehabilitation and ceramic (zirconia) implantology, and is regarded as one of the leading providers of metal-free implant solutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Licenblat is deeply passionate about education and mentorship. He is a Co-Founder, Core Faculty Instructor and Head Lecturer of the Australasian Implant Academy (AIA), where he plays an integral role in the all the AIA’s fellowship programs, the AIA’s Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants and AIA Master Implantologist programs as well as regularly mentors dentists seeking to begin or advance their journey in implant dentistry. He is also actively involved in live surgical training programs and has educated well over a thousand clinicians through lectures, hands-on courses and mentorship initiatives both domestically and internationally.
